The GripTech SP2 Rescue System was developed specifically for fire departments and industrial rescue teams. Traditional "mountaineering" techniques have proven to be difficult to learn, hard to retain and quite simply - unrealistic for most. The GripTech SP2 System eliminates the majority of rigging components - figure 8's, brake bars, load-releasing hitches - and provides you with complete versatility, increased safety, and - finally - the ability for everyone to perform confined space and high-angle rescues.


Rigged vertically, in a block & tackle configuration, the GripTech SP2 Rescue System can be anchored on a tripod, ladder-truck, beam or any other overhead anchor point, for raising in various lifting advantages and, with its built-in drum friction - effortless lowering.

This configuration allows raising and controlled lowering at will - with no changes in rigging! Ideal for confined space rescues or any rescue which is vertical - Straight in - Straight out!

The GripTech System's head assembly utilizes a one way drum assembly which rotates when raising but is stationary during lowering. Two and a half wraps of rope around the drum provide a 90% braking action (drum friction) during lowering so that light hand tension is all that is required to smoothly control descent. All major components of the GRIPTECH SP2 Rescue System are manufactured of stainless steel for strength, corrosion resistance and long life.


Rigged horizontally, the GripTech SP2 Rescue System can be anchored virtually anywhere and allows effortless lowering of a full 600 lb. load with its patented V-Slot and built-in drum friction.

THEN, in less than 15 seconds, with the load still on the line, it can be rigged in a Z-Rig configuration for raising, with the patented Haul-Lock holding the load between hauls and while re-setting the Z-Rig.

Changing back to lowering is even easier.
- Wrap the rope around the patented Lock-Off bar, remove the Z-Rig and dis-engage the Haul-Lock (under full load!) and you're ready to lower again!


For those not requiring the horizontal /high-angle capabilities of the GripTech SP2, we offer the GripTech BP2 Rescue System. This simple and reliable rope rescue system is designed for vertical rescues in a fixed block and tackle lifting advantage and can be anchored to any overhead anchor point such as tripods, beams or ladder trucks.

GripTech Edge Rollers are designed to provide complete rope protection in a variety of rescue operations. Two Edge Rollers are required for most applications and each comes with 2 quick-links for joining together. Additional units can be added for special situations. GripTech Edge Rollers are constructed with thick stainless steel sideplates and anodized aluminum rollers fitted with sealed ball bearings.

The finest rescue pulleys available. Stainless Steel sideplates are 50% thicker than the competition's and the aluminum sheaves are anodized for increased corrosion resistance. Sealed ball bearings are used for trouble free operation and increased efficiency and are less susceptible to contamination than bronze bushings. Designed for ropes up to 5/8" dia.


The GripTech Swivel is a valuable rigging aid for rescue operations. It can be placed anywhere in line to prevent rope twisting and the thrust ball bearing permits smooth rotation under full rescue loads.

The GripTech Handled Ascender is designed as a hauling device for use with the GripTech Rescue Systems. Its unique open design allows use with bulky gloves and the cam protrudes from the rear, which allows opening with a simple push of the thumb. The addition of a side-mounted grip permits easy 2 handed hauling. Designed for ropes up to 1/2" dia.
